Today the new platform of the VDBD AKADEMIE went live. It is operated by the Verband der Diabetes-Beratungs- und Schulungsberufe in Deutschland e.V. (VDBD), the German association of diabetes counselling and education professionals and the academy’s founder and sole shareholder. We put the platform on a new technical foundation, renewed the frontend and optimised the processes behind it.

A platform that matters to the sector

The VDBD AKADEMIE is the place for continuing education for diabetes counsellors, diabetes assistants and other health professionals. The association has around 4,500 members.

The platform brings together several tasks that are essential to these professionals’ working lives:

  • Training courses: seminars, workshops and self-study formats, bookable online – with reduced prices for VDBD members.
  • Continuing education certificate: on behalf of the German Diabetes Association (DDG), the academy reviews proof of continuing education and issues the certificate. Professionals submit their records via a personal user account.
  • Certification requests: external providers can have their training on diabetes mellitus and its complications certified with continuing education points.
  • “Innovation&News” newsletter: six issues a year with news from diabetology and the academy.

Because certificates, bookings and records all run through the platform, it is of great importance to the association, its members and diabetes counselling as a whole.

A new technical foundation, a new frontend

We rebuilt the platform’s technical foundation and completely renewed the frontend. Training courses, the certificate, certification requests and information about the academy are all reachable directly from the main navigation. Professionals handle their requests digitally in one place via their user account.

At the same time, we optimised the processes behind the interface – where the academy and its users work together every day.

Agile and close to the client

We delivered the project in an agile way and in close collaboration with the academy’s team. This allowed subject-matter requirements and experience from day-to-day operations to feed directly into the implementation.

Ready for growing demands

Requirements for operating and securing digital platforms keep rising. With its new foundation, the VDBD AKADEMIE is set up to be run and developed reliably under these conditions too.
